Trying to downsize!\r\n\r\nAdd $250 and you may choose any of our boys that you would like to breed her to. (A great deal! Dirk's breeding fee is usually $1000 and he'd make a super choice.) IF YOU WANT, you may leave her here on our farm until she births. Your cost will be $30/month once she is confirmed pregnant. \r\n\r\nChoose her next breeding to our own finely-fleeced Dirk or McTavish. Check out the their yearly EPD \r\nhistograms results. Excellent! These boys have lingering fineness which is an heritable trait. It seems a sure bet they will upgrade Hazelnut's cria. Notice Hazel's daughter Rhiannon has a finer micron than Hazelnut, the result of a finer stud.\r\n\r\nShe's a sturdy and petite little paca that you will find quite easy to work with. She has a pleasant personality--even when pregnant! She amuses me. After throwing regular ole hay in the bucket, she will stand at the gate watching to see if I go to the \"special pile\"—alfalfa. If I grab a handful and start for her gate, she'll leap straight up in the air—just once! You can almost hear her say \"YIPPEE! Treats!\"\r\n\r\nIn the reproduction department: Hazelnut is a proven dam and did a super job with her first cria, Rhiannon, sired by another amazing stud, Premier's RUBIO (MRG). Rhiannon has Caligula, black/grey Zorro, and Snowmass Black Legend and Bueno genetics.\r\n\r\nHazelnut has black points on her eyes, ears, and muzzle from her black dam. She has a stocky, boxy, compact frame (like her sire Duncan) and is on the petite side at 125 lbs. She's got an adorable face, nice wedge-shaped head, and huge expressive eyes. \r\n\r\nReproductive and 14-day live birth guarantees, free board for 1 month, free delivery within 100 miles.\r\n\r\nYou might also consider our RENT-A-WOMB plan with her. You choose one of the many excellent studs available locally to our farm and pay the stud fee. Or use one of our own excellent stud choices and take 25% off their regular breeding fee. Our girl stays here on the farm and you pay her \"womb rental\" fee ($50/mo) until she delivers. You get to use our alpaca to produce the cria of your choice without the expense of buying an adult female or tending her for 11-12 months. If you decide later, before the birth, that you'd like to buy her, you can apply the rental fees toward her purchase price. Interested? She has produced two of our best boys from Diomedes' breedings. Diomedes is deceased and our two Diomedes boys are also in alpaca heaven. We like Diomedes so well, we bought Bradford, a Diomedes son, with a 17 micron fleece at 10 years, so we were hoping for a beautiful cria, and with color—and got it!\r\n\r\n2021 EPD RESULTS (at 16 years):\r\nRanked 68% for AFD, value —.028 meaning her cria should have a finer fleece than breed average\r\nRanked 28% SDAFD, value —.207
, her cria should have a more uniform fleece than breed average \r\nRanked 52% for Spin Fineness, value —.229, her cria should have a lower SF than breed average\r\n Top 23% for %F>30, value —3.985, her cria should have less micron >30 than breed average \r\n Top 15% for Mean Curvature, value 2.664, her cria should have more crimp than breed average\r\nRanked 35% for %Medullation, value —1.037, her cria should have less medullated fiber than breed average \r\nRanked 92% for Mean Staple Length, value -3.018, her cria likely to have a shorter staple length\r\n Top 15% for Fleece Weight, value +.4901, her cria should have a FW heavier than breed average
\r\nBirth Weight, value -.168, her cria will likely have a lower birth weight\r\n\r\nKenzie's look and fiber quality are what we like: shorter muzzle, triangular head, great histogram and fiber qualities, nice conformation. And she has a VERY calm temperament and is easy to work with, even pregnant. She'll pick up her feet and let you look in her mouth, easily. She is a beautiful animal and about as sweet an alpaca as you'll ever find. Her kids learn that nice behavior from her and they are as well behaved as mama is.\r\n\r\nFirst cria, Dirk, was an easy delivery; second cria McTavish delivered in 8 minutes; same with baby #3, Rosie! She's a very good mama and has plenty of milk. We love this girl because she's a beauty herself and has produced some of our best cria.\r\n\r\nHer initial histogram as a cria was AFD 14.5 with a curve factor of 35.5. Her histogram has been holding steady with fineness and consistency even at 13 years, a GREAT quality she has passed on to her two stellar sons.\r\n\r\nKenzie is out of our best dam, Kupcake, and my assessment is that the daughter has surpassed the mother. We've been wanting a Hezekiah breeding for several years, to get those Running Late genetics on the farm--this has produced a gorgeous light fawn female, Joeleigh. Goodness!\r\n\r\nValorie is just a doll: a calm, sweet little beauty with absolutely crimpy, GORGEOUS apricot fleece and LOTS of it. Lingering fineness.\r\n\r\nLOOK at her latest EPD Report for 2021 (side bar)! Remember this gal is 13 years old!] \r\nWhat do all those EPD values mean for Vanora's cria?\r\nAvg Fiber Diameter (AFD) will likely decrease by -1.341, really good! Top 10% in the nation!\r\n% of Fibers > 30 micron will decrease by -5.311, amazing! Top 11% in the nation!\r\nMean Curve (MC) of fiber will increase by 2.472, super! Top 17% in the nation!\r\n% Medullation (M) will increase by 1.814, (the full impact of medullation in fleece remains a question at this point in time.)\r\nMean Staple Length (MSL) will increase by 1.814, wonderful!Top 13% in the nation!\r\nFleece Weight (FW) will increase by 1.131, INCREDIBLE! Top 1% in the nation!\r\n\r\nWhat the EPD says is that Vanora is an superb animal with really excellent fleece traits that she passes to her cria.\r\n\r\nVanora took the BLUE in her age group for the 2010 AOBA National Spin-Off. Her 2 year histogram shows why: 17.2 3.5 20.7 CF 100%, Curve 47. Her 3rd year clip was 9.25 lbs. of 20 micron blanket! Fine micron with a heavy shear weight adds up to density. Sometimes I secretly wish she were a stud!\r\n\r\nWe used Robyn Kuhl from Coarse Broads and the NAAFP cooperative to sort our fiber in 2011. Vanora scored a 9 for brightness and a 9 for uniformity, an 8 for density, and had a high secondary to primary ratio. Nice topline, nice bite, nice everything! Notice those nice steady histogram stats over the years. That is an excellent and heritable trait.\r\n\r\nHe has beautiful fiber character with glossy, crimpy locks with a bolder amplitude. He's a medium fawn (taking after his famous grandsire, Victor) with white ankle bracelets, white under the chin, white snips on his head, and very excitingly, GREY on his face, head, neck, and legs. No spots on the blanket, just white extremities. There is a lot of grey in his sire's background. Wallace's sire, Julius, has produced many offspring that have won in the showring--ribbon after ribbon.\r\n\r\nI love Wallie! He's one of our easiest boys to handle: calm, quiet, very gentle and easy to manage. He's straight in the legs, upright in posture, bright, alert, and carries excellent fiber qualities. He's gotten his girls pregnant on the first breeding and is a gentleman, eager but responds to handling.\r\n\r\n14-day live cria guarantee.
