Joeleigh is getting to be a mature girl and at almost 2 years old is on the docket to be bred this spring 2022. We can't wait to see what this little beauty will produce!
Joeleigh (JOE-lee) was born on June 20, 2020. As we expected from her dam, Valorie, and her sire, Hezekiah, it looks like she is going to have gorgeous fleece. It's a crimpy light fawn. And just look at those EPD stats! Here's what they mean for Joeleigh's prospective cria:
Avg Fiber Diameter (AFD) will likely decrease by -1.586, really good! TOP 7% in the nation!
Standard Deviation of AFD will decrease by -0.1542, good!
Spin Fineness (SF) will decrease by -1.468, excellent! Top 10% in the nation!
% of Fibers > 30 micron will decrease by -3.587, amazing!
Mean Curve (MC) of fiber will increase by .029, a small help.
% Medullation (M) will increase by 0.7, (the full impact of medullation in fleece remains a question at this point in time.)
Mean Staple Length (MSL) will increase by 4.145, incredible! Top 2% in the nation!
Fleece Weight (FW) will increase by 0.732, super nice! Top 4% in the nation!
This little gal is growing well and nicely conformed. If she's anything like her little mama, she will be on the smaller side, but have a long staple, very fine fleece, and an exceptionally heavy fleece weight. Her mom, Valorie, has one of the heaviest fleece weights in the nation (see EPD stats) but is one of the smallest alpacas on our farm. That spells density in my book! And Joeleigh is following in her mama's traits = DENSITY!
Joeleigh has a very sweet disposition, just like her mama.
Stay tuned! We are expecting this little lady to be added to our foundation females and hope to breed her this year.
