Her Scottish name, Kaeleigh, is pronounced Kaylee. This beautiful young lady is now 2 and bred this spring to true black Antonio. She's gorgeous and you need to look at her EPD in the side bar! Fantastic fleece qualities! Not only is she in the top 15% of fineness (AFD & SF), but in the top 10% of staple length and the top 7.5% of fleece weight! Fineness + heavy fleece weight = density in my book!
What do Kaeleigh's EPD stats mean? They indicate what she will likely contribute to fleece characteristics:Avg Fiber Diameter (AFD) will likely decrease by -1.335, really good!
TOP 11% in the nation!Standard Deviation of AFD will decrease by -0.232, good!
TOP 20% in the nation!Spin Fineness (SF) will decrease by -1.384, excellent!
Top 11% in the nation!% of Fibers > 30 micron will decrease by -4.123, amazing!
Top 22% in the nation!Mean Curve (MC) of fiber will increase by 1.273, super!
% Medullation (M) will increase by 1.814, (the full impact of medullation in fleece remains a question at this point in time.)
Mean Staple Length (MSL) will increase by 2.068, stunning!
Top 10% in the nation!Fleece Weight (FW) will increase by 0.6130, nice!
Top 8% in the nation!Kaeleigh is from our foundation dam, Vanora, one of the best animals on our farm with phenomenal EPDs. Her sire is Grazing Hills Bradford, who also has great EPDs, especially for fineness. We expected that Kaeleigh would have nice fiber and she is showing us it's very true!
She is pure white, she has a beautiful head and is shaping up well in the conformation department with straight topline and straight legs. Her fleece is exceptionally soft, L-O-N-G, and crimpy with heavy coverage. We are expecting her to develop into quite the little princess and we plan to use her as a foundation dam. She's a big girl like her mama. We have very high expectations in what she will produce for the farm.
